Driven out from Palestine, Mary Magdalene landed on the coast of Provence in 42AD, accompanied by Jesus’ close friends. She received the precious teachings of Jesus Himself, she was her favorite disciple. In the course of her long journey, she left her mark on the beginning of Christianity.

Join me on a sacred journey in the footsteps of Mary Magdalene. I invite you to meet the so-called Apostle to the Apostles in her many faces while visiting the sacred places full of her presence, even nowadays.

Magdalene sacred journeys
Anne Catherine Emmerich and her visions of Mary MagdaleneToday we remember Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich († 1824), whose feast falls on February 9. A humble Augustinian canoness born in rural Westphalia, she lived most of her last years confined to a sickbed yet united in an astonishing communion with the mysteries of Christ’s life and Passion. Her body bore the wounds of the Crucified One, and her heart bore a tender devotion to our Lord and to the Blessed Virgin Mary.Though physically weak, Anne Catherine’s spirit seemed to journey beyond time. In long ecstasies she saw the life, trials, and triumphs of Jesus as if she stood alongside Him — from the hidden years in Nazareth to the final steps up Calvary. Her mystical gaze also touched figures like Mary Magdalene. According to accounts of her visions, after the Resurrection, the Magdalene withdrew into the wilderness beyond John the Baptist’s former dwelling and lived in solitude, concealed among rocks and prayer. It is said that she later found refuge in a place of stillness and contemplation, far from human eyes.Anne Catherine’s feast invites us to see the Gospel not just with our minds but with an inner contemplative gaze, recognizing that the women who loved Jesus deeply — like Mary Magdalene and the Virgin Mary — are powerful witnesses to the transforming presence of grace in the human soul. ... Today we celebrate Saint Agatha, one of the many strong women who followed Christ in the first centuries of the Church—women whose faith cost them everything, and whose courage still speaks to us.Saint Agatha is often depicted holding her breasts on a tray because, during her martyrdom, her breasts were brutally mutilated as part of the torture inflicted on her for refusing to renounce her faith and her consecration to Christ. This powerful and shocking image is not meant to glorify violence, but to bear witness to her courage and fidelity in the face of extreme suffering. The palm she carries is the ancient symbol of martyrdom, representing victory over death and faithfulness to Christ until the end.Art : 16th-century altarpiece panel, work by Ramon Oscariz ... Not all suffering is visible. Some suffering settles quietly over time, exhausting the body or the soul, and sometimes slowly eroding hope.Perhaps you are carrying in your heart a loved one who is ill — a child, a spouse, a family member, a friend — a weary caregiver, or someone nearing the end of life.Perhaps you yourself are longing for healing — in body, in heart, or in spirit — for a wound that has been carried silently. In Lourdes, the Virgin Mary welcomes all suffering, visible and invisible.Since her apparitions to Saint Bernadette, she has continually invited us to prayer, trust, and hope — even when healing is delayed, or when it does not come in the way we expect.During the Month of Mary, from May 2 to May 12, I will be hosting a retreat beginning at Lourdes, following the footsteps of Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene:a time of prayer, silence, gentle accompaniment, and inner renewal in their presence.Only 3 places remainingSmall, intimate group (maximum 12 participants)If this speaks to your heart, you are warmly welcome.www.magdalenesacredjourneys.com/mary-magdalene-and-virgin-mary-retreat-france/ ...
